Wills, Probate & Tax Department
About Helen
Naturally detailed and empathetic, Helen offers invaluable assistance to clients and colleagues alike.
Helen supports the team with the preparation and execution of wills, trusts and probate, as well as all other aspects of individual and family law. Helen works closely with Victoria Brackstone, Carl Wheeler, Stephen Meredith and Christopher Popham.
Helen’s career
Helen’s two key interests are evident in her career. Her first legal position was working for the Law Society in Chancery Lane, London, where she spent nearly three years as a secretary in the Recruitment & Placement, Publishing and Education & Learning departments.
Helen left to pursue her love of horse riding, qualifying as a riding instructor with the British Horse Society, a career she enjoyed for several years. She was tempted back into the world of law, specifically wills and probate law, in 2006, when she moved to the outskirts of Dartmoor in Devon. Helen joined us here at Horsey Lightly in 2012, and has been a key member of the team ever since.
Life beyond the office
Helen’s love of horses is as strong as ever, and whenever she can, she takes part in riding events and scribes for dressage judges for British Eventing and British Dressage (scribes support the judges by taking dictation). Away from the equestrian world, Helen enjoys walking with local rambling groups – she’s even helped to re-establish local routes, reading and catching up with family and friends.
